Week 9 # 23 The End
Well, I just finished!! WOW...What a ride...We started with the Championships...Wimbledon!!! And ending at the gates of the U.S.Open! It started in L.A. and it ends in N.Y...Talk about a cross-country trip, but that is not what I meant....Sneaks went cross-country too!!! He went...East to West!! But...as far as the Internet is concerned...We started with 1.0 and landed in 2.0...And 23 Things turned out to be the real Road Trip!
And what a Ride it was!! I'm so amazed at how much I have learned on this trip. As you can tell I got carried away with RSS Feeds! At home, in the evenings, I've logged into Pandora almost nightly.
I'll tell you something... you're never too old to learn, so don't close your eyes for a second...You might miss something, technology seems to change by the second!
I never knew that there was so much on the web free...programs running totally below my radar! I'll keep up now!!
I can hardly wait for the next assignment.
This has truly been worth the time.

Week 9 # 22 Downloadable eBooks & video
At Project Gutenburg I found The Art of Lawn Tennis...by... Bill Tilden. The title is still available, but not widely. At one time the governing body for tennis in the United States was the USLTA (United States Lawn Tennis Association). In recent times the lawn has been dropped and today it is just the USTA. Grass courts are hard to find in the U.S.
Still the most prestigious event in tennis is still played on the lawns of Wimbledon. The following is an except from the Art of Lawn Tennis Chapter XI The Probable Future of the Game:
Remember this was written in the 1920's.
The champion of the future will
necessarily need more equipment than the champion of to-day. The
present shows us the forehand driving of Johnston, the service of
Murray, the volleying of Richards, the chop of Wallace F.
Johnson, the smash of Patterson, the half volley of Williams, and
the back hand of Pell. The future will find the greatest players
combining much of these games. It can be done if the player will
study. I believe that every leading player in the world in 1950
will have a drive and a chop, fore- and backhand from the
baseline.
Do you think he saw Roger Federer in his crystal ball?
I must admit that I was very impressed by the user friendliness and the download speed of Gutenberg. Keep Gutenberg going.
Overdrive is a different animal, once you download the audio player and learn how it works, it is a great tool. I downloaded American Soldier it did take a while for it to load, but I didn't feel that was a drawback. However, the Adobe ebook I downloaded was Futile and Stupid Gesture and it didn't take long for Adobe to open it.
All in all I liked all the products

Week 9 # 21 Podcasts
Okay folks Last week it was John Isner...This week Djokovic denies Federer the title in Montreal. Sorry, Roger...no Roger's cup for you this year. But, before we get into tennis, let's talk about podcasting
Well, there are a number of Podcast available for sports, even a few for tennis, but nothing really grabbed me! But if you want to give some a try go to mysportsradio Maybe you'll be more impressed than I was.
Back to Tennis...Sam Querrey is at it again, making his first appearance in A Master's Event quarter final. Look out James he beat you two weeks ago.

Week 9 # 20 Roger Federer Cool YouTube
On the Road Again! This time it's the Roger's Cup in Montreal. And guess who just pulled in...They don't call it the Roger's Cup for nothing.
I've used YouTube and Google Video several times for news and sports. It's a nice innovation. Some people feel that it is just fluff, but that is far from the truth.

Week 8 #18 Online Productivity Querrey beats Blake
Road Trip: On The Road to the U.S. Open
It was the winner's circle for Dmitry Tursunov and Anna Chakvetadze, but it was the Breakthough win for Sam Querrey that was real story. In a dramatic win over defending champion James Blake. Sam aced his way to a 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 victory for his first win over a top ten player.
And by the way, this post was created with Google Docs. So, if you don't have Microsoft Office just use an online productivity product.
